Fajr contender features Sistan and Baluchestan actors

The 42nd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) in Iran showcases the captivating movie ‘Miro' that throws the spotlight on local actors hailing from Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

The flick is themed on the 1980s Iraq-Iran war and follows an adolescent determined to go to war.

'Miro', directed by Hossein Rigi, narrates the resilience of people in Sistan and Baluchestan Province amidst the hardships of the Iraq-Iran war.

One of the unique features of 'Miro' is its cast, comprising mostly local actors from the province.

Local actors can bring cultural nuances, accents, and lived experiences to their roles, enhancing the film's authenticity and credibility.

Such movies give a platform to different communities, foster a sense of inclusivity, and offer valuable recognition for ethnic minorities. 

Sistan and Baluchestan Province is located in southeast of Iran. The province boasts diverse and breathtaking natural landscapes.

Established in 1982, the FIFF celebrates cultural exchange, displays the creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the FIFF has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 42nd edition of the event is underway and wraps up on February 11, 2024.
